As we mentioned earlier,Friendship Peak is seen as a bridge between trekking and mountaineering.Although recognized by the IMF as a trekking peak,it has all the characteristics of an expedition.The braid,no matter how small,does not allow you to cut corners.
With harder climbs and a tad more difficult terrain,the peak forces you to learn some hardcore mountaineering techniques.Such as climbing up, climbing and descending in the snow,the use of snow boots and crampons,and of course physical and mental stamina.
The difference between trek and expedition is hardest when you have to take your hands out of your gloves.so that you can put your metal crampons on during the night climb,in sub-zero temperatures.
